fun weekend

This weekend we stayed in Salt Lake to take care of my parents dogs while they went out of town. Since PJ works nights and starting now until the first week of October also works weekends. My sister in law Julie and I arranged a weekend of activities for our families. We started out Friday afternoon with a shopping trip for clothes for the kids. Then we were brave and decided to do a slumber party at my moms house. So it was just the two of us and 2 two year olds Braden and Kyli a 1 year old Cam and James who is 9 months. So we set up 2 kid tents in my Moms front room a castle and a turtle, the kids played in them for most of the night but surprisingly all kids were asleep by 8:45. However James did wake up at 11 pm and did not go back to sleep until about 5 am. Then we all got up at 7 to get ready to go to the zoo. We wanted to get there at about 9 when it opened and we were very close arriving at 9:20 we were greeted at the gate by 2 big and beautiful eagles. The kids just stared for a while it was quite awesome. Then as we started around the zoo we realized we had uncovered a secret between 9 and 11:30 am is the best time to go to the zoo. Hardly anyone was there we didn't have to wait to see any animals and all animals were out and playing instead of laying around. We were the only people in looking at the White Alligator which gave the kids plenty of time to walk through and look at all the displays, and in true Braden fashion as we left he looked at the alligator and said" Later Gator". We were able to get through the whole zoo in 2 hours we rode the carousel and the train without having to wait in line. It was the best time at the zoo ever.
So then we continued our day we took a little break for some family time and PJ and I took the boys to IKEA and walked around looked at stuff and with a glint of hope in our eyes would say "One day we'll have that". As we walked around we found train stuff. for those who don't know Braden is really big into Trains, Planes and Boats and we had got Bradens train set here a while a go so we wanted to get him more tracks to make it bigger and we came across a new train that is shaped liked the UTA Frontrunner, when we told Braden it was like the train Daddy rode to school he had to have it so we got it for him. After that we went to Scott and Julies house in Eagle Mountain and had a BBQ it was quite the perfect ending to a great weekend.

Wow, you're daring with all those kids :) I'm sure they had a blast, though!
